Better By Bike
Arrowtown, Queenstown Region

Better By Bike has been operating from Dudley's Cottage in Arrowtown since the Queenstown Trails Network opened in 2012 — the original crew on the trails. They offer e-bike hire, hardtail mountain bikes, family options including cargo bikes and kid attachments, and a dedicated adaptive bike tour programme. Popular routes include the 25km Arrow River to Gibbston Valley trail passing Kawarau Bridge and some of Central Otago's finest wineries, the Lake Hayes Loop, and the newer Wharehuanui Trail connecting Arrowtown to Arthur's Point. Return shuttles, accommodation pickups, and full trail support are all available. The team opens at 9am and provides equipment fitting, maps, and a safety briefing before every ride.
Inclusive statement
The Better By Bike team is committed to making the trails accessible to everyone and has partnered with MakingTrax who has invested in a dedicated adaptive mountain-bike, with guided tours to back that up. From the moment you arrive, the team will work with you to get you fitted, briefed, and out on the trail feeling confident and supported.
Good to know
Better By Bike offers the Bowhead Rogue Hand Cycle — a high-performance off-road handcycle with delta configuration and Bosch motor, suitable for the Wharehuanui Trail and Arrow Bridges Trail. Adaptive tours depart from Dudley's Cottage at 4 Buckingham Street — five minutes from Arrowtown's centre, with all-day parking nearby.
