Christchurch Adventure Park

Christchurch Adventure Park sits on 358 private hectares in the Port Hills, 15 minutes from Christchurch city centre — the largest lift-accessed mountain bike park in the Southern Hemisphere. The park is home to New Zealand's longest zipline tour — four dual ziplines including the country's highest (150m above the valley floor) and longest (1.1km The Long Ride) — plus New Zealand's longest chairlift at 1.8km with sweeping views over the city, Pacific Ocean and Southern Alps. Trail grades range from beginner green through to world-class double black, with rental bikes and coaching available on site. Two Gravity Quads — the only purpose-built adaptive downhill mountain bikes in the Southern Hemisphere — are available for hire. The on-site café seats over 200 in native pine forest, and a skills area, pump track and jump lines complete the offering.

The Christchurch Adventure Park team takes a genuine "if it's possible we'll make it work" approach across all their activities. Two Gravity Quads — specifically designed for wheelchair users and able-bodied riders to equally enjoy the experience — are available for hire, and staff are experienced at assisting with chairlift. The crew across all products, including the ziplines, are there to work with your needs and make it happen.

Good to know

The two Gravity Quads are the only purpose-built adaptive downhill bikes in the Southern Hemisphere — currently available on Green (beginner) trails only, with further trail options under development. To ride the Gravity Quads you need full arm and hand function and the ability to self-transfer. A mandatory training run on the easiest trail is required before progressing. Be aware of abrasion and pressure areas when riding. A MakingTrax support harness is available for the chairlift for guests who need trunk support. For the zipline, guests who can self-transfer and have support between stations can contact the operator directly. Zipline weight limit is 27–125kg, minimum height 1.2m. Guests cannot be pregnant or have significant heart, back or neck conditions for the zipline. For adaptive mountain biking, contact the Adventure Park directly with transfer details.
