Christchurch Paragliding
Sumner, Christchurch · Launch site — meet point confirmed on booking

Christchurch Paragliding operates from one of New Zealand's premier coastal flying sites above Taylors Mistake beach, 10 minutes from Sumner Village on the eastern fringes of Christchurch. Tandem flights with experienced instructors offer 20–30 minutes soaring above the Christchurch coastline, with views stretching north to the Kaikōura Ranges, east over the Pacific and south toward Mount Hutt and the Southern Alps. Flights are highly weather dependent — the team will contact you 2–3 days out with a planned time and confirm 1 hour before departure.
Inclusive statement
Ryan and the Christchurch Paragliding crew are proud MakingTrax partners and some of the most experienced adaptive paragliding pilots in New Zealand. The team are not only exceptional pilots but genuinely thoughtful and understanding of each guest's individual requirements — if it's possible, they'll get you in the air.
Good to know
Adaptive paragliding buggies — purpose-built French-designed chairs for people with mobility impairments — are available, making flight possible for guests who cannot stand or walk independently. For guests with mobility issues who weigh 80kg or less, transfer into a standard paragliding harness with two assistants is also an option in suitable conditions. A maximum weight limit of 85kg applies for adaptive flights due to equipment load specifications. Standard tandem flights have a maximum weight of 110kg. All flights are weather dependent — patience is required, as the team will only fly in the right conditions. Own transport to the Godley Heads Road launch site above Sumner is required. Book directly with Ryan and include your weight and full details of your ability. Please contact us directly or MakingTrax for adaptive trips.
