Cycle Nelson (formerly The Gentle Cycling Company)
Nelson, Tasman

Cycle Nelson (formerly The Gentle Cycling Company) is Nelson's original cycle tour operator, based at Tahunanui Beach with additional hire locations at Nelson Airport and Kaiteriteri Beach. Their guided and self-guided tours explore the Great Taste Trail — a 175km loop through vineyards, orchards, craft breweries, historic villages and coastline connecting Nelson, Motueka and Kaiteriteri. Single day wine and beer tours, multi-day self-guided adventures with accommodation, and bespoke mountain bike tours are all on offer, alongside standard e-bike and standard bike hire with maps, shuttles and local knowledge included. A Bowhead Rogue adaptive e-handbike is available for guests who need it — one of only four in New Zealand, managed in partnership with MakingTrax.
Inclusive statement
The Cycle Nelson team genuinely believes cycling is for everyone and goes out of their way to make every ride possible. With a MakingTrax Bowhead Rogue e-handbike on-site and a crew experienced at supporting adaptive riders, they work with each guest to find the right bike, route and pace — from a relaxed coastal cruise to a bespoke multi-day adventure.
Good to know
The Bowhead Rogue is a high-performance adaptive e-handbike suitable for guests with lower limb impairments who have sufficient hand and arm strength to steer, brake and change gearing. It can be hired for a half day, full day or multi-day trip, with standard bikes available for accompanying companions. For adaptive bookings, contact MakingTrax in advance to arrange itinerary, logistics and any additional support needed. The Great Taste Trail is well-formed and largely flat — suitable for a wide range of fitness and ability levels on standard bikes. Bike delivery to accommodation is available on request. Please contact us directly or adaptive trips through MakingTrax
