R&R Kayaks
Mārahau

R&R Kayaks is a small business run by born-and-bred local Rohan, operating from their purpose-built base in Mārahau at the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park. They offer half-day and full-day guided sea kayak tours, multi-day guided tours, and kayak rentals for those with experience who prefer to explore independently. Guided tours take in golden sand beaches, seal colonies at Adele Island, the bird sanctuary, hidden lagoons and the stunning coastal scenery of the Astrolabe Roadstead. Free parking and gear storage are provided at the base
Inclusive statement
Rohan believes everyone should have the chance to experience the Abel Tasman from the water, and works with Makingtrax to adapt tours for guests with reduced mobility. The calm, sheltered waters of the park make sea kayaking here one of the most accessible paddle experiences in New Zealand — if it's possible, the team will find a way to make it work.
Good to know
Kayak rentals require previous kayaking experience — guided tours are recommended for beginners and guests with mobility needs. MakingTrax adaptive support harnesses and customised seating arrangements are available for guests with reduced lower limb function. If you need transfer assistance or have specific mobility requirements, contact MakingTrax in advance with as much detail as possible. A shuttle service is available from Mārahau base — if you're happy to be helped into the van, arrangements can be made. Multi-day tours have a 3-week cancellation policy. We have yet to develop an Access Guide — please contact us directly, or MakingTrax for adaptive trips.
