Shotover Jet

Queenstown, Queenstown Region · 10 minutes from Queenstown CBD

Adapting Aotearoa Endorsed
MakingTrax Endorsed

Shotover Jet offers the only jet boat access to the spectacular Shotover River Canyons, 10 minutes from Queenstown at Arthur's Point. Guests experience speeds of up to 90kmph through narrow canyon walls, with full 360° spins and rapid sections across a 25–30 minute ride. Proudly owned by Ngāi Tahu, whose connection to the Kimiākau (Shotover River) spans centuries. A courtesy shuttle is available from The Station Building in central Queenstown for most departure times.

Inclusive statement

The Shotover Jet team has worked with MakingTrax for close to a decade to make the experience as inclusive as possible. Staff are on hand to assist guests with access needs from the car park through to boarding, and the team is committed to finding a way to get everyone on the water if safety and access perimeters allow.

Good to know

Shotover Jet is based at Arthur's Point, 10 minutes from Queenstown — drive yourself or request a shuttle at the time of booking. A riverside ramp provides access to the boat, and with advance permission from the Shotover Jet crew, you can drive down to the riverbank to make boarding easier. If you're unable to self-transfer into the boat, two support people must travel with you on the experience and assist you into your seat. It's recommended guests have hand and arm function to hold on during the ride — if not, your two support companions seated alongside you can help brace you. Please note the crew will assist wherever possible but are not permitted to physically lift guests into or out of the boat. Minimum height is 1 metre (may be extended to 1.2m depending on river conditions). We have yet to develop an Access Guide — please contact us directly. For people that are unable to self transfer its recommended to connect with the team at MakingTrax who can organise a adaptive trip. We are not quite Adapting Aotearoa Endorsed as have yet to develop an Access Guide, although currently going through the Endorsement Process
