Skydive Franz Josef & Fox Glacier

Skydive Franz Josef & Fox Glacier is the only skydive operation on the West Coast, offering tandem jumps from 10,000ft right up to 18,000ft — one of the highest available in the Southern Hemisphere. The scenery is unmatched: Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers to the east, the wide blue Tasman Sea to the west, with lakes, rivers and ancient rainforest stretching between. Small groups at each time slot keep the experience personal and unhurried, with photo and video packages available. Check-in is at 63 Cron Street in Franz Josef Village, with a shuttle transfer to the dropzone included.

The Skydive Franz Josef team welcomes guests of all abilities and has been working with MakingTrax to make the experience possible for people with reduced mobility. The team are experienced, encouraging, and will work with you to ensure a safe and enjoyable jump.

Good to know

A custom MakingTrax harness system is used for guests with reduced mobility — during freefall legs are secured together, and on landing the tandem master takes the impact so the guest slides in safely. Maximum passenger weight is 100kg with reduced mobility; guests over 100kg are assessed by senior staff before jumping. Children aged 13–16 can only jump at 13,000ft; those under 18 require written parental consent. All jumps are subject to weather — book your first available day and keep a backup day free.
