Taupō Sailing Adventures
Taupō, Lake Taupō · Marina is 5 min drive from Taupō CBD

Taupō Sailing Adventures operates the luxury 53ft sailing catamaran Tiua on Lake Taupō, running scheduled trips to the iconic Ngātoroirangi Māori Rock Carvings — a 14-metre artwork carved into the cliffs and only reachable by water. Morning, afternoon and sunset trips run approximately 2.5 hours, with the option to swim in the crystal-clear lake, help hoist the sails, or simply relax on the large deck with a drink. Tiua's spacious saloon, covered cockpit and dual-hull design make her suitable for all weather conditions — the only vessel on the lake offering this. Private charters for groups of up to 50 are available. Departures are from Berths 16/17 at the Taupō Marina, Redoubt Street — arrive 30 minutes before departure.
Inclusive statement
The Taupō Sailing Adventures team is a small family operation with a genuine inclusive spirit. While it isn't the most physically accessible experience, the crew will work with every guest to make it possible. If it's possible, they'll find a way to get you on the water.
Good to know
The most challenging aspect for guests with mobility needs is boarding and disembarking from the wharf. If you weigh more than 80kg and can self-transfer, contact the team directly before booking — email your weight, transfer ability, and whether your travel companions can assist. For guests under 80kg with mobility needs, contact MakingTrax to discuss options. Please advise the team of any medical conditions at booking — the skipper has the final say on suitability for health and safety reasons. All trips are subject to minimum numbers and weather/lake conditions. Please contact us directly, or MakingTrax to organise an adaptive trip.
