Queenstown, Queenstown City · Central Queenstown pickup — multiple pickup points available (confirm on booking)

Adapting Aotearoa Endorsed
MakingTrax Endorsed

The Goldrush Tour launched in 2025 with one clear goal: to offer Queenstown’s most detailed historical tour experience. This locally owned and operated tour takes guests deep into Skippers Canyon on a 3–4 hour small-group journey from Queenstown, following the route taken by 1860s gold miners through the dramatic Queenstown Gorge and along historic Skippers Canyon Road. Immersive stories, professionally narrated by voice actors in 8 languages (EN, ZH, KO, ES, DE, FR, IT, JA), play in sync with the journey, bringing the region’s gold rush history to life while your guide handles the technical alpine driving. Classic children’s stories are also available in English, making it a genuine family experience. With a maximum of 11 guests per group, the tour finishes with a complimentary hot drink, beer or wine at Gantley’s Tavern, one of New Zealand’s oldest pubs. Summer operation, with pickup from central Queenstown

Inclusive statement

The Goldrush Tour is designed with inclusion in mind — operator Cal works directly with every guest to discuss their requirements before booking, so there are no surprises on the day. Wheelchair users, guests with vision or hearing impairments, and guests with other access needs are all welcome to enquire. Service dogs are welcome. The detailed GPS audio stories are also a fantastic experience for guests with vision impairments.

Good to know

The vehicle is a 12-seat Toyota HiAce with full-time 4WD, upgraded suspension and a folding side door step — back row seats fold down to create space for larger wheelchairs. Photo stops are all within 10 metres of the vehicle, so guests who prefer to stay seated can still enjoy the views. The route travels Skippers Road — a narrow, winding backcountry road with uneven surfaces — so guests with significant neck or back conditions should consider this before booking. There are no toilet facilities within Skippers Canyon — up to 3 hours can pass between available toilet stops, so plan ahead. Minimum age is 3 years. Contact Cal directly before booking to discuss seating arrangements and any specific requirements — he operates the tour himself, so you’ll speak to the right person straight away. When booking 'Access10' will get you a 10% discount (Access.ive only)
