The Helicopter Line – Aoraki/Mount Cook

The Helicopter Line operates scenic helicopter flights out of Glentanner Park on the southern shores of Lake Pukaki, offering a range of experiences from a 25-minute alpine flight with snow landing through to the full 55-minute Mount Cook and the Glaciers experience crossing the Southern Alps to see Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers on the West Coast. Every flight includes a snow or alpine landing, with pilot commentary throughout. Flights operate year-round, weather permitting.

The Helicopter Line crew are experienced at welcoming guests of all abilities and will work with you to make every flight possible. Adapted glacier experiences using a specially designed ski chair are available for guests with reduced mobility — the team works closely with MakingTrax to tailor every experience to the individual.

Good to know

Transferring into the helicopter may be challenging for some guests — contact MakingTrax well in advance with full details of your mobility, weight and any equipment you'll be bringing so the right arrangements can be made. All flights are weather dependent — book early in your trip and keep a backup day available. Complimentary transport from Mount Cook Village can be arranged on request.
