Wero Whitewater Park
South Auckland, Auckland

Wero Whitewater Park is New Zealand's first and only man-made whitewater facility, located in Wiri, South Auckland. Three courses suit all levels — the Tamariki River (grade 1–2, family-friendly), the River Rush (grade 3 rapids with bigger waves and more excitement). Beyond the whitewater, the park offers kayak hire and lessons, inflatable kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding on the lake, and a lakeside café with pizza and BBQ areas. Entry to watch is free, with paid sessions for the courses. Suitable for ages 5+ on the gentle course and 13+ on the River Rush.
Inclusive statement
The Wero team works with MakingTrax to make whitewater accessible to all abilities. Whether it's rafting with full trunk function, inflatable kayaking with the MakingTrax adaptive harness, or paddleboarding on the lake with outrigger support — there's a genuine option for a wide range of guests, and the team are committed to finding what works for you.
Good to know
Rafting on the River Rush requires full trunk function. Inflatable kayaking is available for guests with limited trunk and arm function using the MakingTrax adaptive harness — this makes it accessible to most abilities. The sit-down paddleboard (SDP) has outriggers for stability and can accommodate a wheelchair attached directly to the board. For all adaptive activities, guests must be able to swim. Contact the operator directly if you have full trunk function; for all other abilities contact MakingTrax in advance with your ability, weight and contact number. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult at all times. Please contact us directly, or MakingTrax for adaptive trips
